What We Do
How it All Started
Camp Ohana was born of a need for 2SLGBTQIA+ resources in Newfoundland. Camp was created by three high schoolers on the west coast who felt compelled to build a space they felt the province was lacking.
“We started as a little group, in a little coffee shop, in a little town, with a great big idea.”
Our Mission
Camp Ohana seeks to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive space for all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies. Through various empowering workshops youth will gain tools of advocacy that they can apply in their own communities to help foster positive conversations and further acceptance in the province. Our goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the stigma surrounding the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and inspire youth to live authentically.
“To say the least, this was life changing … I’ve never been to a place where I felt so loved and accepted until I went to Camp Ohana.”
